Best Hypoallergenic Cats

Hypoallergenic, meaning "below average" or "slightly" allergenic means that something (usually cosmetics, pets, food, etc.) causes fewer allergic reactions.
The term refers to pet breeds that apparently produce fewer allergens compared to other breeds of the same species, because of their coat type, absence of fur, or absence of a gene that produces a certain protein. All breeds scientifically produce allergens, yet some of them trigger fewer.  This is probably due to their shedding level or producing less of the Fel d 1 protein, a common allergen. It is worth noting that most people are not allergic to a cat's furs but to the proteins in the saliva, urine and dander. Cleaning your home where your cat is could be a great idea to decrease the amount of those allergens. Let us look at 10 best cat breeds that may work for people with allergies.

Best cat breeds for allergies
Here is the list of 10 cat breeds that are suitable for people with allergies:

1- Balinese

The Balinese is almost similar to the Siamese cat breed. Although this breed has long coat, it is low-shedder and needs brushing once a week. These cats also have less of the Fel d 1 protein that causes allergies.

 2 - Cornish Rex

These cats are very smart and active and love to be paid attention to. Cornish Rex has short, wavy coat. The coat doesn't shed too much dander as longhaired cats or cats with dense coats. That minimizes the spread of dander and allergens.

3 - Devon Rex

These cats are social and playful and love to do whatever the humans are doing. The wavy coat doesn’t tend to shed much.

4 - Javanese

These cats don’t have an undercoat; therefore, they are moderate shedders and spread fewer allergens. They need brushing once a month.

5 - Oriental

These athletic, playful, and smart cats do not shed too much. They look quite strange and have large ears. They can be trained to do basic tricks and love puzzle toys. They need brushing several times a week. Use a damp cloth to remove dead hair from the ground. That could minimize allergens.

6 - Russian Blue

These cats are quiet and gentle. They enjoy sitting with their favorite people to brush them. The Russian blue is generally good for people with mild cat allergies. Its shimmering coat is somehow low-shedding and needs brushing once a week.

7 - Selkirk Rex

Selkirk Rex is a laidback type. It has a wavy coat that sheds minimally. Brush them several times a week to remove dead hair and limit its ability to spread allergens as well.

8 - Siamese

They generally love to be around their favorite people. This breed is known to be low-allergen and low-shedding.

9 - Siberian

This breed produces relatively little of the Fel d 1 allergen compared to other cats. These cats have thick coats. Weekly brushing is ideal.

10 - Sphynx

It is said that they are hairless. If you bathe them frequently, the amount of dander will be minimized.
